Marc Jones is forced by his mother to serve a prison sentence in place of his elder brother right before his wedding night. Upon his release, he is shunned, and his mother-in-law refuses to let her daughter marry him. Determined to make something of himself, Marc decides to venture out and build his fortune. When he finally returns home in triumph, ready to marry his former fiancee, he discovers that she has married his brother.
